
PROF. SABAHATTİN AYDIN
He was born in Göynük, Bolu in 1959. He went to Şair Nedim Elementary School and Darüşşafaka High School in Istanbul and graduated from the School of Medicine of Istanbul University in 1985.
Between 1985 and 1987, he served as practicing physician at Gümüşhane Health Education Center of the Ministry of National Education. He completed his specialty training in urology at the School of Medicine of Trakya University in 1992.
He worked as a specialist at Sakarya Geyve State Hospital from 1992 to 1994. He was assigned to the Department of Urology, School of Medicine of Yüzüncü Yıl University in 1994 as an assistant professor, became an associate professor in 1996 and a professor in 2003. He served as the deputy chief physician, head of department, head of surgical sciences and deputy dean. He also received his PhD in clinical microbiology in 2003.
He served as the director of healthcare services at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2001 and 2002 and as the deputy undersecretary at the Ministry of Health between 2003 and 2010. He represented Turkey at the Executive Committee of the World Health Organization from 2006 to 2009. He has served as the President of Istanbul Medipol University since 2010 until he was assigned as the Deputy Minister of Health on November 18, 2020.
