Pursuant to the agreement between Turkey and Yemen, 160 Yemeni patients including children and women and 54 hospital attendants were transferred to Turkey.
The patients and their attendants who were transferred to Turkey from Aden, Yemen with rented private plane were greeted by Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir, Dr. Öner Güner, General Director of EU and Foreign Affairs and Abdullah Ali Fadhel Al Saadi, Yemen Ambassador to Turkey at Kütahya Zafer Airport.
AFAD and other personnel gave their coats to the patients and their attendants who felt cold after getting off the plane.
Dr. Öner Güner, General Director of EU and Foreign Affairs of Ministry of Health, reminded that 1026 foreign patients received treatment at the hospitals of Ministry of Health and university hospitals in 2016 at the statement he made to the press.
"Upon the agreement received by Prof. Dr. Recep Akdağ, Minister of Health, and Ali Al-Ma'meri, Governor of Taiz, Yemen at the meeting held in Ankara on 7 October 2016, it was agreed that patients from Taiz who did not have opportunity to receive treatment in Yemen would treated in Turkey" stated Mr. Güner and added:
"160 patients and 53 attendants landed to Kütahya Zafer Havalimanı under the agreement. Their treatments will be given in Afyonkarahisar. Turkey is the most generous country in terms of humanitarian aid. Turkey is a country which embraced all the people who need held all around the world. We just cannot our door to the patients. We see these people as our brothers. Hopefully, we will send these people to their country as treated people."
Abdullah Ali Fadhel Al Saadi, Yemen Ambassador to Turkey, thanked to all the people who contributed, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and especially to the President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and expressed the gratitude of Yemeni people for Turkey's help.
"Turkey is a great stated. We thank to all the people and especially to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for bringing us here. Hopefully, we will return to our country as treated." stated the Yemeni patients including children.
Patients and attendants were transferred Afyonkarahisar State Hospital after entrance procedures were completed.
