Dr. Ahmet Demircan, Minister of Health, and Prof. Dr. Eyüp Gümüş went to Mogadishu on 15 October, Sunday at 23.00 with a delegation of 31 personnel for the explosion happened at Mogadishu, Capital of Somalia, on 14 October, Saturday.
The cargo plane of the Office of Commander in Chief which was transformed into ambulance and can carry 70-80 injured people to Turkey departed on Sunday at 01.00 with additional medical supply and medicines.
Within the delegation, there are 26 additional Health Personnel of 2 Practitioner, 14 Specialist and 12 Allied Health Personnel.
Mr. Minister was welcomed by Prime Minister, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Health at Mogadishu Airport.
Minister of Health Dr. Ahmet Demircan and Dr. Fawziya Abikar, Minister of Health of Somalia had a meeting at Mogadishu Somalia Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Training and Research Hospital.
At the hospital administered by Ministry of Health of Turkey, there are 91 Turkish Personnel 23 of whom are Physician.
According to information received from the hospital, an explosion which was also felt at the hospital happened at region called kilometer 5 close to the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Hospital at the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu on 14 October Saturday at 15.30, over 200 injured people were brought to our hospital by 24.00, 143 of the injured people were admitted to the hospital, around 60 injured had outpatient treatment and were discharged, now there are about 80 inpatients, 11 of injured people lost their lives, 336 people lost their lives in total at the crime scene and other hospitals, injured people who need emergency health care and operations were delivered necessary treatments, and there are still 9 patients who are in critical conditions and need transfer to Turkey.
35 Somalia citizens injured at the explosion are being transferred to Turkey today and their treatments are planned to carry out at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital, Ankara Gülhane Training and Research Hospital and Polatlı State Hospital.
