European Union Coordination Board (ABEK) was established under Secretariat of the European Union Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pursuant to the Presidential Circular of 17 October 2019 in order to ensure coordination of EU acquis harmonization and accession negotiations.
Among others, the Board is primarily responsible for determining priority areas and activities for EU acquis harmonization, steering activities of the public institutions for EU acquis harmonization, monitoring and evaluation, and examining and assessing recommendations of the public bodies, private sector, NGOs and universities about EU acquis harmonization activities, and it was decided to convene at least once a year or whenever the need arises.
Within this framework, the first Board Meeting took place at the EU Department on 25 November 2019, and on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe attended the meeting, accompanied with representatives from General Directorate of EU and Foreign Affairs.
