Emergency and Disaster Medicine International Joint Field Exercise was held between 15-16 December 2021 at Urla National and International Emergency-Disaster Training and Simulation Center. The opening of the said exercise was attended by Deputy Minister Dr.Şuayip Birinci, Emergency Health Services General Manager Dr. Eray Çınar, Head of Relations with International Organizations Yusuf Irmak, İzmir Provincial Health Director Dr. Mehmet Burak Öztop, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Vice President Dr. Rahman Nurdun, World Health Organization (WHO) Humanitarian and Health Emergency Preparedness Istanbul GDO Deputy Director Dr. Irshad Ali Shaikh, African Center for Disease Control and Prevention Representative Wessam Mankoula and many other representatives. 45 healthcare professionals from 9 African countries (Sudan, Djibouti, Chad, Gambia, Guinea, Somalia, Niger, Senegal, Cameroon) participated in the exercise. In the exercise, the guest medical teams applied 5 different emergency scenarios, including the response to the COVID-19 cases, in 12 cases in the field.
