The Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which has been in force between Türkiye and EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) since 1992 and includes only goods trade, was revised to include such new issues as “service trade and e-commerce” as a result of the negotiations carried out between 2014-2018 and the revised agreement entered into force on 1 October 2021.
In order to discuss the issues related to the operation of the FTA, preparatory meetings were held with the Ministry of Trade on 16-17 August 2023, and a Joint Committee meeting was held under the leadership of the Ministry of Trade on 29 August 2023, with the participation of the countries party to the FTA.
The aforementioned meetings were attended by representatives of the General Directorate of Health Services and Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency under the coordination of the General Directorate of EU and Foreign Relations. The current status of the Health Services Annex signed with Switzerland within the scope of the revised FTA was discussed at the meeting.
