The 4th Steering Committee Meeting of the "Health Safety in Turkey Project" was held on November 4, 2021. The project is implemented by the General Directorate of Public Health with the technical support of the World Health Organization under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA). The purpose of the project is to strengthen health security in Turkey through preparedness and response in line with international standards for epidemic threats of any origin; ensure the effective functioning of the Early Warning and Response System (EWRS) centrally and locally; to improve the capacity and performance of microbiology laboratories to support EWRS by supporting the structure and processes of a sustainable Field Epidemiology Training Program and to increase the existing epidemiology capacity in provinces.
At the meeting, which was kicked off with the opening speech of Deputy Minister Tolunay, the representatives of AFAD, Nuclear Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Department for the EU at MoFA, Delegation of the European Union to Turkey were informed about the activities carried out within the scope of the project, and views were exchanged on the activities to be carried out in the upcoming period.
