Director General Dr. Aziz Alper Biten held a series of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean Meeting, held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
During the meetings, Director General Dr. Aziz Alper Biten met with the Ministers of Health of Egypt, Indonesia, Somalia and Syria, as well as the Deputy Ministers of Health of the Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia.
He also held meetings with representatives from Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Kuwait and Qatar.
As part of the programme, Director General Dr. Aziz Alper Biten met with WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
On the occasion of the meeting, best wishes for success were extended to Dr. Hans Kluge, Dr. Hanan Balkhy and Budi Sadikin, who are candidates for the position of WHO Director-General.
During his engagements in Cairo, Director General Dr. Aziz Alper Biten also met with Salih Mutlu Şen, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Egypt. The discussions focused on bilateral health relations between Türkiye and Egypt, as well as the medical treatment processes of patients from Gaza.
