Signing Ceremony on “Council of Europe Agreement on Trafficking Organ” and International Conference were held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain on 25 March 2015.
A committee consisting of Prof. Dr. Eyüp Gümüş, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health; Dr. Öner Güner, General Director of EU and Foreign Affairs; Spec. Dr. Mehmet Ali Aydın from General Directorate of Health Services; and Prof. Dr. Utku Aydın, Member of Scientific Advisory Board of İstanbul University and Ministry of Health attended to the Ceremony.
“Council of Europe Agreement on Trafficking Organ” was signed by Turkey, Greece, Luxemburg, Spain, Poland, Portuguese, Italy, Norway, Moldova, Albania, Austria, Czech Republic, Belgium, and the UK. Prof. Dr. Eyüp Gümüş, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health, signed the Agreement on behalf of Turkey.
When considered that trafficking human organs violets human dignity and right of life and it is a big threat to public health, the agreement will encourage cooperation between EC Members and non-members.
