Minister Koca: “We are ready to provide healthcare services to our Palestinian brothers”
Hans Kluge, World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Europe, expressed his gratitude to Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca and the Ministry of Health of Türkiye for their partnership in healthcare aids to be provided to Gaza.
Regarding the issue, Kluge said on his social media account, "We express our sincere gratitude to Minister Koca and the Turkish Ministry of Health for their partnership in this critical period."
Kluge noted that WHO and its humanitarian partners are working to deliver the necessary medical and other aid supplies to patients and healthcare facilities in need of assistance during this period when safe access to Gaza is vital.
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca said, "As Türkiye, we are ready to send hospital ships to the region, to establish field hospitals in Gaza or at points close to the Rafah Border Gate, and to provide healthcare services to our Palestinian brothers."
Stating that he carried out telephone diplomacy with many international interlocutors, including the top managers of the WHO, following the inhumane attack on the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, Koca said that it is unacceptable for healthcare institutions to be attacked under any circumstances and for whatever reason, and he emphasized that this was the main topic in his negotiations.
Koca stated, "In my negotiation with Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, I stated that it was urgent and essential to support the region in terms of healthcare services. We are ready to act together with WHO if it decides to carry out these activities. I insisted that the World Health Organization also had a historical responsibility in this sense."
