The 9th Turkish Medical World Congress, organized under the auspices of the Presidency, hosted by the Ministry of Health and under the leadership of the Health Institutes of Türkiye (TUSEB), with the theme "Artificial Intelligence in Health", started in İstanbul with the participation of representatives in the field of health from many countries.
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca said in his opening speech that the congress was held on the centenary of the Republic of Türkiye.
He stated what has been happening in Palestine for two weeks cannot be explained by humanity and civilizational values, and he considered the attack on Al-Ahli Arab Hospital as "a destruction of human conscience".
Stating that it is not possible not to take action in the face of these events, Koca added that they contacted the World Health Organization (WHO) and representatives of many countries after the hospital attack in Gaza and said:
"As Türkiye, we are ready to send hospital ships to the region, to establish field hospitals in Gaza or at points close to the Rafah Border Gate, and to provide healthcare services to our Palestinian brothers through them."

Minister Koca said that the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency has become one of the national regulatory authorities accepted by the international community as applying high quality, safety and effectiveness standards, and with this development, the institution has become one of the most reliable pharmaceutical authorities in the world.
Stating that Türkiye has become a center of attraction in the international arena with its radical changes in the field of health and its infrastructure based on the latest technology, Koca said, “The e-Pulse platform which serves 68 million users today and includes 39 subsystems such as teleradiology, Vaccine Tracking System, e-Prescription, e-Report, Medicine Information System, Health Pass, is at the center of digitalization and one of the largest IT infrastructures in the world in terms of health record coverage. We are making great efforts to improve our strong infrastructure and experiences in the field of informatics for the use of 'artificial intelligence in health' as well.”
Minister Koca explained that artificial intelligence algorithms evaluate patients' health data precisely, thus facilitate the early diagnosis of diseases and optimize treatment processes, allowing physicians to make more accurate and faster decisions.
He stated that as the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye, they were working to include technological developments in the country's health system and added that Artificial Intelligence-Based Medical Image Processing, Intelligent Follow-up and Treatment Systems in Health and Artificial Intelligence-Based Prosthesis Development projects were implemented by TUSEB in this context.
At the congress, the video message sent by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was shown to the participants.
"Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards" were given to the winners
TUSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards Ceremony was also held within the scope of the congress.
At the ceremony, the incentive awards given in the name of Nobel laureate scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar since 2017 were presented to the winners.
Scientists who were awarded for their studies in the field of medicine received their awards from Minister Koca.
At the ceremony, awards were given to representatives from different countries for the centenary of the Republic of Türkiye.
Minister Koca held bilateral meetings with his counterparts at the Congress
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca stated that the bilateral meetings he held with the health ministers of the states participating at the 9th Turkish Medical World Congress would be beneficial to all parties.
Minister Koca held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Kuwait, Georgia, TRNC, Azerbaijan, North Macedonia, Gambia, Kosovo, Namibia and the Kyrgyz Republic.
