Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is working to develop a more active cooperation process in the field of health considering the needs of the 56 member countries and the Islamic world within the framework of the Strategic Health Programme of Action adopted in 2013. Without avoiding responsibility, Turkey has undertaken the leadership of Thematic Area 1: Health Systems Strengthening for implementation of the programme and provided maximum support since the beginning of the process.
Turkey is already sharing with many countries – including OIC member countries – her experiences in the field of the health system reform initiated in 2002 and appreciated globally with its successful results. Turkey is continuing providing support through the program established under the roof of OIC. Through such and similar cooperation, it is targeted to make important contributions to health.
Given that resilient health systems can only be built on the well-trained qualified health manpower, “Infection Control and Intensive Care Training Programme” was developed and implemented by the Ministry of Health of Turkey for training of the healthcare professionals to decrease hospital mortality rates in Islamic world.
Trainings will continue in coordination of the General Directorate of EU and Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Health in Ankara. With the three rounds of trainings to be organized in 2018, it is planned to provide theoretical and practical trainings for the healthcare professionals of 15 member countries and increase their professional knowledge and experience.
The first round of the trainings will take place between 25 June and 13 July 2018 with the participation of 22 healthcare professionals from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Inauguration of the training program will be performed on 25 June 2018 at 11.00 in Ankara and theoretical trainings will last for a week. The two-week practical training will take place in Gülhane Training and Research Hospital, Numune Training and Research Hospital, Dr. Sami Ulus Women and Child Diseases Training and Research Hospital, Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital and Ankara Training and Research Hospital.
