Health Minister Fahrettin Koca had a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Yelzhan Birtanov and the accompanying delegation in his ministerial office. Afterwards, the two ministers had a press meeting.
“Kazakhstan is a very important country for Turkey. I sincerely hope the recent developments in Kazakhstan will bring positive consequences for our states and peoples. Our developed strategic relationship is a very precious heritage of the former President Nursultan Nazarbayev” Turkish Health Minister said underlining the deep historical and cultural ties with the friendly country Kazakhstan.
“As a result of the intense efforts of Nazarbayez, Kazakhstan stands out as a very stable country in the region, and a highly esteemed member of the international platform. Even though we are sad for his decision to step down, his successor Tokayev is also very successful leader. We hope to further develop the strategic relations and regional cooperation between our countries.
It is also very important to increase the trade volume in health sector as a part of the economic and commercial cooperation activities in Central Asia.
We are pleased to witness the successful and productive cooperation activities at the Turkish Council, and we will hopefully focus on health-related areas more in the coming period.”
Dr. Koca further added that joint operations and exchange of experiences were performed by the Turkish and Kazakh healthcare professionals in the specialties of general surgery, urology, plastic surgery, gynecology & obstetrics, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, pediatric surgery, anesthesia and reanimation, radiology and emergency medicines within the scope of the Health Week launched on April 7th.
“In this very fruitful meeting with my Kazakh counterpart, we discussed the signing of an inclusive agreement for the systematic development of our bilateral cooperation. Our country has an important experience in health systems strengthening arising from health transformation project. In the coming period, we would like to take important steps in the field of health systems strengthening with our strategic partner Kazakhstan. We also have a common will to deepen our cooperation in emergency health care. I believe that we will make concrete contributions to the citizens of both countries by increasing the level of cooperation in these areas.
We have also discussed that we can develop the tools to meet the needs of Kazakhstan, such as medicines and medical devices at an effective cost, by the USHAS, and to cooperate in the fields of health tourism and training in healthcare professions. We will improve our cooperation in a concrete way with the fast and confident steps with the involvement of the technical delegation in Kazakhstan, and we will carry out activities based on mutual benefits. Our cooperation within the scope of World Health Organization also came up during the meeting. We would be glad to receive the support of Kazakhstan for our candidate Dr. Nedret Emiroğlu in the coming elections of WHO Regional Director for Europe” added Dr. Koca.
On the other hand, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yelzhan Birtanov said that Turkey is very experienced about health system and they will further develop relations in the field of health.
