The 74th Session of the World Health Assembly, the highest decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO), was held online between May 24 and June 1, 2021, to which a delegation chaired by the Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca attended.
Minister Koca addressed the participants at the plenary session entitled ”Ending the current pandemic, preventing the next one: building a healthier, safer and fairer world together".
Turkey became the co-sponsor of 7 resolutions adopted at the Assembly, namely “Strengthening WHO Preparedness and Response to Health Emergencies”, “Convening a WHA Special Session to Discuss the Development of a WHO Convention, Agreement or Another International Tool on Pandemic Preparedness and Response”, “Strengthening Local Production of Medicines and Other Health Technologies to Improve Access”, “Protecting, Watching and Investing in the Health and Care Workforce”, “Empowering Nursing and Midwifery: Investments in Education, Jobs, Leadership and Service Delivery”, “Multisectoral Response to Violence, Especially Violence Against Women, Girls and Children” and “Health Conditions in the Occupied Palestinian Territories Including East Jerusalem and Golan, Syria”.
