Prof.Dr. Recep Akdağ, Minister of Health of the Republic of Turkey, held a meeting with Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Punjab Province of Pakistan, and the accompanying delegation in Istanbul on August 26, 2016. During the meeting, health related issues were discussed and it was agreed to send a Turkish team to make on-site examinations in Punjab Province and meet again subsequently to decide the relevant steps. Due to Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever epidemic that erupted in Punjab last week, the Turkish Ministry sent a technical team to work together.
Following the meeting, “Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey and the Punjab Health Departments of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Strengthening of Health Systems and Public Health Programs” was signed by Prof.Dr. Eyüp Gümüş, Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Health, and Rana Sanaullah Khan, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs of Punjab.
