The 4th Health Ministers Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization was held online by the Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Health Assoc. Prof. Tolga Tolunay and Director-General for EU and Foreign Affairs Dr. Selami Kılıç. In addition, bureaucrats from various levels from the health ministries of other countries, ECO Secretary General Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour, World Health Organization (WHO) European Director Dr. Hans Kluge and WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO) Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari attended the meeting.
After discussing the overall economic and social negative effects of the pandemic, the ECO Health Action Plan covering the years 2021-2022 and the ECO Health Draft Declaration were accepted by the member states. Member states noted that they will increase joint cooperation and solidarity to reduce the effects of the pandemic in the region.
