It was previously notified to the Turkish Ministry of Health that the WHO Regional Office for Europe wanted to perform a simulation exercise in Türkiye under the Rapid Response Mobile Laboratories Initiative launched in 2018 in cooperation with Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) and to establish an Interregional Training Centre for Emergency Medical Teams (EMT).
In line with this request, WHO Delegation including The Network Leader of Strengthening Preparedness Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) Flavio Salio, Dr. Oleg Storozhenko from WHO Regional Office for Europe, WHO Country Office Representative Dr. Batyr Berdyklychev and WHO Acting Head of Istanbul Office Dr. Irshad Shaikh paid a visit to the Director-General of EU and Foreign Relations Dr. Selami Kılıç on February 28, 2022. The technical issues of both sides were discussed during the meeting.
