The 76th World Health Assembly (WHA), the highest decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO), was held in Geneva, Switzerland, on 21-30 May 2023. The Turkish Ministry of Health participated in the Assembly, and Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the United Nations Office in Geneva Ambassador Güven Begeç gave a speech at the opening session themed "WHO at 75: Saving Lives, Driving Health for All".
Among the agenda items of the Assembly are included the Global Strategy for the Health of Women, Children and Adolescents (2016–2030), the development of Universal Health Coverage, the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, substandard and counterfeit medicinal products, strengthening rehabilitation in health systems, and the draft global strategy for infection prevention and control, global roadmap to eradication of meningitis by 2030, standardization of medical device terminology, health emergency response of WHO, health emergency in Ukraine, Implementation and update of International Health Regulations (2005), Pandemic Treaty negotiations for health emergency preparedness, response and resilience and meetings of relevant working groups to strengthen the global health architecture for the fight against polio, United Nations Nutrition Decade (2016−2025), Program budget performance evaluation and final Report 2022-2023, Financing and Implementation of the Program budget and Financing the Program Budget 2024-2025, updating the member country contributions for 2024-2025.
